Abstract

A collection of various personal and official correspondences of the late 1930s and of the war-period.

The content relates to personal matters, official certifications, inter-communities correspondences, all in all in correlation with the Nazi-German occupation regime and local affairs.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

Wartime official and private correspondences. Letters sent within countries and between countries. Official documents are issued in Germany, Romania, Poland and British-mandate Palestine. The time-span includes the period from 1930s to the late 1940s.

Collection Historical Note

Interwar and wartime correspondences and official documents reflect on regional Modern European History and the History of the Holocaust. Geo-political situation in Europe overall defined the course of personal affairs and regional politics. Largely the narrative of this collection correlates with the Nazi-German anti-Jewish politics and with the implementation of the Final Solution of the Jewish Question, i.e., the Holocaust.

Biographical Note

The Holocaust survivors and witnesses narrated their wartime experience
