Emil was born in Gemüden am Main, Germany in 1890 to Moses and Rachel Forchheimer. His wife Bertha, maiden name Kaiser, was born in Gotha seven years later. After marrying in 1922 the couple settled in Coburg, Germany, where Emil had a furniture business. The Forchheimers emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1939 with the help of Emil’s brother, Louis. Louis Forchheimer resided in Alpine, Texas and lobbied for the emigration of his two brothers, Emil and Benno, along with their families. The Jewish school was held at the Hirsch family home on High Street in Coburg, Germany.
Esther also died along with Walter “Rotkohl” Lewy. In 1942 Walter died in the Riga Ghetto. How Esther died is unknown.
