Die Wehrmacht was a German Military magazine, which was published from 1936 to 1944 to serve Nazi-German propaganda purpose.
It promoted the newly formed Wehrmacht, official editor was the new Oberkommando der Wehrmacht from February 1938 onwards.
Aimed at young readers, the price was only 25 Reichspfennig, and illustrated in color, mainly by Theo Matejko. In September 1944 it was cancelled.
The Wehrmacht was the unified armed forces of Germany from 1935 to 1946. It consisted of the Heer (Army), the Kriegsmarine (Navy) and the Luftwaffe (Air Force).
The Frankfurt Constitution of 1848 designated all German military forces as the German Wehrmacht, consisting of Seemacht (see forces) and the Landmacht (land forces). In 1919, the term Wehrmacht also appears in the Weimar Constitution. From 1919, Germany's national defense forces were also known as the Reichswehr. This name was dropped in 1935 in favor of Wehrmacht on March 16, 1935.
By 1922, Germany had begun covertly circumventing the provisions of the Versailles Treaty with regard to building the new army.
A secret collaboration with the USSR began after the treaty of Rapalo.
